Three Structural Engineering Specialist (STS) from Michigan Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 1 (MI-TF1) attended the Eastern Regional Training Session for STS on November 15 and 16 in Tampa, Florida. The regional training was provided by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for USACE engineers, and federal and state urban search and rescue task force structural engineers. This regional training session was attended by 49 Structural Specialist from across the country, including Daniel J. Miller, P.E., from William A. Kibbe & Associates. Dan has been a member of MI-TF1 since 2008.

The training included a refresher and skills enhancement training for hazard assessment & mitigation, monitoring with the Total Station, structure repair techniques, shoring size up and design, calculating weights and centroids, and transit tunnel response awareness.
