Downtown Saginaw Rendering
William A. Kibbe & Associates developed a 3D model for use in an urban planning study for the city of Saginaw, Michigan. Multiple sources were used to illustrate accurate 3D components including photos, linked 2D Autocad drawings, and satellite imagery. The final model was used for marketing, design visualization, proposed development, and as an instrument to encourage discussion during the New E.R.A. Downtown Design Charrette. WAK provided technical expertise as part of the design team involved in the Charrette planning and urban redevelopment process. -
Warehouse Rendering
William A. Kibbe & Associates used BIM to design this food warehousing facility located in Saginaw, Michigan. Our project team also used Revit’s scheduling functions to determine material quantities and stored pallet counts for the warehouse sizing. 3D section cuts were utilized to accurately place and design stair and roof access openings, and realistic renderings were used for lighting studies and coordination. -
Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center Pavilion
William A. Kibbe & Associates used BIM to develop a new pavilion for the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center located in Saginaw, MI. The 3D model was used to convey multiple design ideas and considerations to the owner throughout the entire design process. WAK’s design team was able to utilize the model to maximize the space available and maintain clearances for mechanical and electrical equipment without impacting the overall concept for the space. -
Albert & Woods Business and Professional Development Center Renovation
The Saginaw County Mental Health Department purchased the former Germania Town and Country Club of Saginaw, which was the oldest country club in America. The 40,000 sq. ft. building was to be remodeled to house 40 office workers and provide for future expansion. William A. Kibbe & Associates was first asked to perform a complete assessment of the facility. The building was very outdated and structurally deficient. It was found that exterior columns needed replacing, a full mechanical and electrical overhaul would be needed, windows and skylights needed to be replaced along with the exterior soffit and fascia. The parking lot also underwent a total reconstruction including drainage, lighting, and landscaping. The interior dining rooms, lounges, and kitchens were demolished to make room for new offices, training spaces, waiting rooms, and open office areas. New plumbing fixtures and piping were required along with new lighting fixtures and wiring. WAK selected neutral, yet modern designs for floor and ceiling finishes with light colors for the walls to brighten up the spaces and provide contrast to the existing woodwork and existing wrought iron. Our team's expertise and eye for design turned an aging relic into a contemporary, open, and professional office environment. -
Morley Renovation
William A. Kibbe & Associates provided complete architectural, mechanical, and electrical design engineering services for this renovation of an office and call center in Saginaw, Michigan. The 185,000 square foot facility was originally designed as AT&T’s district communication hub and remained occupied during all phases of construction for the new building owner. The Palmer Gateway Arch, named after the Palmer Foundation that is funding the project, is a unique and substantial symbol for the city of Frankenmuth that visitors will pass under upon entering and exiting the city. BIM was used to orient the structure to the existing topography and site constraints, and to provide drawings and renderings of the design development progress for the city to use to gain public support and funding. -
MCVI
William A. Kibbe & Associates provided structural, mechanical and electrical engineering design services for this development building. Working with the Developer, Construction Manager, and Architect, plans were formed and coordinated with several suppliers of advanced state-of-the-art equipment to facilitate this contemporary office building to enhance the care for heart patients and their specific needs. The first and second floors were finished, with the third floor planned for future expansion. Tight budgets and time constraints for construction were of major concern as the building progressed through development. Poor soil conditions resulted in 100 foot deep pilings being driven for a stable foundation which supports the steel super-structure. The mechanical system employs a variable air volume distribution system to enable specific building areas precise control of temperature. Electrical systems were designed to enable a most flexible layout of offices and computer LAN connections in all parts of the building, with collection at a single point for retrieval of e-info. Energy throughout the building can be monitored and controlled for efficient use of utility resources. -
CyberKnife
William A. Kibbe & Associates was selected to renovate an existing treatment vault to accommodate the new Cyberknife® robotic surgery system at St. Mary’s of Michigan, Seton Cancer Institute located in Saginaw, Michigan. St. Mary’s Hospital is one of only a few in the state of Michigan to offer this form of cancer treatment. This new surgery combines image guided radiation therapy, robotics, and respiratory tracking to precisely treat tumors and other lesions anywhere in the body while protecting adjacent healthy tissue and critical structures. WAK was asked to relocate existing radiation equipment and utilize the existing vault for the placement of the new Cyberknife® technology. The focus of the project was to create a comfortable, architectural environment which included decorative tiled surfaces, soffiting, and a ceiling mural. With this atmosphere the attention of the patient can then be directed away from the treatment procedures. The renovated space required precise coordination between the Cyberknife® robot and room obstructions to accommodate special clearances for electrical and mechanical equipment that was to be installed within an existing electrical room. -
